Cleveland Schools Invites Community to Honor Veterans on November 11

On Veterans Day, communities across America pause to recognize the courage, sacrifice, and service of the men and women who have defended our nation. This year, Cleveland Schools is once again proud to partner with our community to host a special Veterans Day Ceremony and Parade on November 11. It has become on our favorite days each year!

The event will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Arlington Park, where students, families, veterans, and community members will gather to honor those who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Student musicians and performers will help set the tone for a meaningful and memorable ceremony focused on gratitude, respect, and patriotism.

Following the ceremony, participating veterans will be recognized through a community parade that will travel through downtown Cleveland and our school campus. Residents are encouraged to line the route, wave flags, and help create a memorable experience for the veterans who have given so much in service to our country. No guests permitted to line the parade on school campus, please utilzie south Broadway and East Caddo.

One of the most meaningful aspects of the event is the involvement of our students. Throughout the weeks leading up to Veterans Day, students will learn about military service, sacrifice, citizenship, and the freedoms they enjoy today because of the dedication of our veterans. Many classes will create signs, letters, and other tributes that will be shared during the event.

"We want our students to understand that Veterans Day is more than a holiday on the calendar," said district leadership. "It is an opportunity to recognize real people who stepped forward to serve something larger than themselves. Their sacrifices have protected the freedoms we enjoy every day."

Veterans who would like to participate in the ceremony and parade are encouraged to register through the district's sign-up form or contact the school office. Community members can assist by sharing information about the event and helping ensure local veterans are aware of the opportunity.
